His love for the water began in high school playing water polo; also a cross country runner and baseball player, he volunteered at a local park in Broward County, where the need for lifeguards was apparent. Like so many of us, he came to Gainesville to attend the universities. Lifeguarding proved a good job through college, and he became manager of the city swim program in 2010. Kids love Coach Eric, he relates to kids’ fears about the water in a way such that they are able to see them as surmountable. This quality was recognized by Sun Country Sports in 2012, when he was hired as Aquatics Director. Since he began, Eric has taught more than 3000 kids to swim. He is kind and compassionate and demands the best from his athletes.
Teaching high school has since become his full time career, offering swim lessons around that schedule.
You can also find him enjoying springs, rivers, and beaches by paddle- or surfboard.
